Why You Should Never Skip Your Bi-Annual Teeth Cleanings

Posted .

We understand that your time is important and we understand that visiting your dentist could seem like more trouble than it’s worth. Similarly, twice a year may seem too often, but skipping these bi-annual cleanings can lead to a number of problems.

You might assume that all our team does during these appointments is clean your teeth and send you on your way, but this isn’t quite accurate. You see, during these appointments, our team will inspect your pearly whites for signs of trouble.

For instance, our team will search for abnormalities that could be signs of oral cancer. These abnormalities could be lumps or a discoloration in your mouth. We’ll also inspect your mouth for signs of gum disease. Sadly, the symptoms of gum disease can actually be difficult to detect. However, our team is trained to recognize these symptoms and to help you cope with them.

We’ll also inspect your mouth for signs of tooth decay. If you don’t address these issues, cavities could form and could eventually kill your tooth. Skipping your bi-annual cleaning can also leave you at risk for serious dental issues. If decay is left unaddressed, you could eventually need a tooth extraction, root canal therapy, or other treatments.

If you’re interested in learning more about the care you can receive from our team, please don’t hesitate to contact us at 360-876-0445. Our dentists, Dr. Fisher and Dr. Bergevin and our team will inspect your mouth and offer you specific advice. We look forward to hearing from you soon!
